An accomplished painter and watercolorist and friend of Manet, Goeneutte was also an admirer of Rembrandt which led to his pursuits in the medium of etching. A founder of the Expositions des Peintres-Graveurs [Painter/Engraver Exhibitions], Goeneutte was proficient himself and produced over 250 etchings in his career.
Goeneutte is best known for his portrayals of scenes from everyday life in Paris, particularly of the women of the city.
